The Visiting Edible Gardens programme continues with a visit to Annabelle and Mike’s garden at Colby by Appleby, which has an unusual design of vegetable garden, lawns, new bee-friendly area, bees, orchard, pigs and poultry in an attempt to be as self-sufficient as possible. This is very much a series of projects in development so handy tips would be very much appreciated!
Just turn up between the specified times and wander around as you wish. The whole area is relatively flat with no steps or steep slopes, though paths are narrow around the vegetable plot, and the ground is uneven in places. Families very welcome.
Please share cars if driving to the event. Parking – please use the lay-by outside the village hall (at the Appleby end of the village) for parking (or in village hall car park) and walk up the road. We are just 30 yards up from the Kings Meaburn turning (wooden gates will be open). Families with young children / those with mobility issues are very welcome to park in our parking area.
Refreshments available – donations will go to Syria Crisis Appeal (Oxfam).
Free event. Toilet available in house. The event will go ahead if it is raining. Map.
Please use the above link to reserve a free place. Anyone attending will have to sign in on a sheet.
