The Ants and the Grasshopper

Directed by Zak Piper, Raj Patel. 74 mins | BBFC Rating: (12A)

When the effects of climate change show indisputable signs of irreversible damage, African farmer Anita Chitaya travels to America to meet with activists and legislators to persuade them to save her home by first saving the planet.
Travelling from Malawi to California to the White House, Anita Chitaya meets climate sceptics and despairing farmers. Her journey takes her across all the divisions shaping the US, from the rural-urban divide, to schisms of race, class and gender, to the thinking that allows Americans to believe they live on a different planet from everyone else.
It will take all her skill and experience to help Americans recognise, and free themselves from, a logic that is already destroying the Earth.

The film will be followed by a discussion with Joe Human of Sustainable Keswick about Climate migration.
