Jaki will be running the free Give Peas a Chance pea shoot stall.
The sale is followed by a visit to Carol and Ian's nearby garden from 12 noon until 2pm. You can get an insight into turning a town garden into a productive food-growing patch. The garden combines raised beds and greenhouses to produce a variety of different crops. Tomatoes, potatoes, peas, beans, leeks and fruit bushes are among the food plants that Carol and Ian will grow this year. They’ve established their beds over the past five years after moving to their current home on Wordsworth Street, and have been growing food for themselves and to share with friends for many years.
With the growing season just getting started, now’s a particularly good time for anyone new to growing veg to come and see how experienced gardeners are preparing their beds and planting up.
