First Community Oven Group meeting minutes

Present. Peter Clarke, Niall Wildewood, Tisch Adams, Dawn Hurton, Heather Lowthian, Nick Jones, Peter Dicken

NJ reported that he had been successful in obtaining a start-up grant from RSA of £1950 to help fund the project.

The project is to last approx 8 months – ie., 3 months planning and 5 months oven building.

Schools which have shown an interest in this project include Crosby Ravensworth (head Tim Ayres) and cluster schools, ( Crosby Ravensworth, Asby, Milburn, Bolton, Temple Sowerby, Long Marton) Calthwaite, (head Geoff Norman), Culgaith, Hackthorpe (Lowther Endowed), Kirkby Thore (Heart of Eden cluster), Langwathby .

DH and HL reported that local schools were clustered to foster interschool relationships, community relationships within the cluster and the wider Eden Community relationships.

Materials and land/position requirements were discussed and also the need for community involvement beyond the schools.

Transportable, rather than mobile ovens were discussed with useful information concerning materials and modes of transportation exchanged.

Refreshments were kindly provided by the Watermill and the meeting closed round about 1830
