As part of the Visiting Edible Gardens programme, Norman has generously offered to let us have a look round his garden at Leadgate near Alston. Norman says, "I will be likely moving from this house next year so this is the only opportunity to see high altitude vegetable growing 'for show'. We are situated on the Hartside Road on the Alston side at about 1300 ft."
He continues, "The garden has been developed over 9 years and was a wilderness when we took it on, whilst the boarders are very plain, the selection of veg and how to work with nature by not excluding the likes of rabbit and deer, should be a good guide for fellow gardeners."
Free event though donations for a small local charity will be accepted.
Teas and coffees available. Toilet available. The event will go ahead if it is raining.
Please share lifts if possible if coming by car.
Please use the above button to reserve a free place. Otherwise, simply look for the PACT or Freegle directions in Leadgate. Anyone attending will have to sign in on a sheet. Please take great care at this visit and respect the generosity of those opening up their garden.
