Sustainable Community Solutions - Summer Fair District Launch Event

CAfS would like to warmly welcome you to attend the official launch of Sustain Eden’s Sustainable Communities Solutions programme. This event’s objectives are to inform, inspire and increase awareness amongst Eden’s communities of the Sustain Eden programme as a whole and to highlight the range of support available to those looking to get their community sustainability projects off the ground and realised! To do this we will have a range of stalls, activities for kids and adults, and a series of drop-in seminars running throughout the day…

The main aim of the Sustainable Communities Solutions programme is to support community-led projects which deliver sustainable actions for their communities. To do this we will be launching the Sustain Eden Expert Bank, a resource open to communities across Cumbria. In addition, CAfS can offer 10 nominated community projects 3 x full days of expert consultancy advice selected by communities from the Expert Bank. Seven of these communities will also receive additional project support from CAfS very own Community Support Officer.

To inspire attendees we would ideally like to focus on 8 broad areas throughout the day, and are looking for partners to attend with stalls, presentations or facilitate workshops/activities. Suggested areas are:

  • Buildings & Energy (Energy Efficiency, Renewables)
  • Local Resource Efficiency (Goods Recycling, Up-cycling, Food Waste)
  • Sustainable Transport (Car clubs, cycling)
  • Sustainable Materials (Local natural materials, green building materials)
  • Local & Sustainable Food (Community food production & local resources)
  • Equity & Local Economy (Community Funding Streams, Coops, CLT)
  • Local Natural Services (Biodiversity, Community Woodlands)
  • Culture & Community (Resilience Planning, Education)
